Enter through the low square arch of this han, an historic inn dating back to 1550, that was designed by the Ottoman Empire’s most famous architect, Mimar Sinan. Out of a total of four original entrances, this is the only one that remains open, and leads into an inner courtyard spread over two tiers that houses a number of crafts and tradesmen’s offices. Although the han is in a poor state of repair, it is nonetheless still a functioning space for local businesses. Note the antique marble base of the tap – which supplies the han with running water – just to your left as you enter the main courtyard.
