Spice Egyptian Bazaar - Istanbul - Turkey

Spice (Egyptian) Bazaar Quick Guide

Mısır Çarşısı – Spice (Egyptian) Bazaar

The Spice Market was built as a means to support the upkeep of the Yeni Mosque. The shops inside pay rent to a foundation linked to the Yeni Mosque. The shops mostly sell spices and sweets although there are also shops selling tourist merchandise. Turks call the Spice Bazaar the Egyptian Market because in earlier times imports from Cairo were sold here. Unlike the touristy Grand Bazaar further up the hill, the Spice bazaar is as much frequented by locals as it is by tourists.
