Tomb of Mimar Sinan Quick Guide

Tomb of Mimar Sinan, Mimar Sinan Türbesi

Here on the triangular corner between two diverging streets is the very humble tomb of the Ottoman Empire’s most celebrated chief royal architect, Koca Mimar Sinan. Sinan died in 1588 at the age of 98, having overseen the construction of no less than 360 buildings, all of which are documented in a catalogue of his works called the Tazkirat al-Abniya. Sinan lived here on the site of his most famous construction for many years and was buried here after his death in this türbe, or tomb, which he built himself.
