St Anthony of Padua Catholic Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. Antoine is located on the left side of Istiklal Avenue in Beyoglu on the way from Galatasaray to Tünel. The construction of the church begun in 1906 and completed and opened for services in 1912. The architect was Guilo Mongeri, who was born in Istanbul Under the direction of Italian monks; it is the principle Catholic Church in Istanbul, with the largest congregation.

Built within a courtyard, the entrance door of the church is between two apartment buildings on the main street, which were built to assure income for the church. The church is made of concrete in the Italian Neogothic style.
