Simena (Castle – Kale)

Simena (Castle – Kale) Overview
Simena, located on the peninsula across from Kekova Island, is one of the most mysterious places in the area. The village on the site of the ancient city offers a splendid combination of nature and historical ruins. The village, accessible only by sea, has a number of rock -cut or sarcophagus- style Lycian tombs scattered all around the village. Cisterns, the ruins of the quay, old houses and especially the smallest Lycian theatre with the capacity of 300 and the castle, which gives the village its present name Kale (the castle), are the major monuments at Simena.
