The ancient city of Myra, 1 km. from Kale, is located on a hill in citrus fruit orchards. After appearing on the stage of history as a Lycian city, it was under the domination of the Romans. The major monuments at Myra are the tombs and the Hellenistic theatre.
Uçağız, in a sheltered inlet, is a small village. A few waterside restaurants and souvenir and carpet shops have been opened in order to enliven tourism in this pretty fishing village.
A small castle and the large graveyard around it, the remnants of the breakwater and tombs are the major monuments in the village, founded on the site of the ancient Lycian city of Theimussa.
